Scripture: “He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. 3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. 5 “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house, bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.”
Observation: These verses show the authority Jesus is given as God; as Creator; as Ruler over all – both past and future. He is faithful to His Father and is seated at the right hand of His Father. As believers, we are part of His church now – and his Kingdom for eternity as we hope in Him.
Application: Sometimes I tend to separate Jesus and God – but these verses remind me that Jesus IS God. The same God who is just, merciful, gracious, loving, and all-knowing – is Jesus. Even though He ran with His friends, grew and spent time on earth as a man, He was still fully God. Creator. Redeemer. Ruler. Saviour. He is my High Priest because of the cross.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the sacrifice on the cross. Thank You that I can come to You because of Your Son Jesus. Thank You for the power over sin and death. Thank You for the victory that is mine when I come to You. Amen.
