Scripture: “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.”
Observation: Jesus was led by the Spirit and allowed for His faith to be tried by satan in the wilderness, and so He understands our temptations.
Application: Jesus was fully God/fully man and His faith was tested by satan in His earthly flesh – after a mountain top experience. Satan enticed Jesus with things that would tempt a human -(trusting God for our life) -(power & recognition) – (Wealth and riches) – but Jesus used the Word of God to rebuke the enemy and did not sin. We should expect the enemy to attack us when God is getting ready to do a mighty work. We should arm ourselves with the Word of God so we are ready with an answer. We should remember that our testings can sometimes even come from God in order to grow us – He does not tempt us – but He can and will use those times we are tested to lead us into a deeper walk with Him.
Prayer: Lord, help me to remember that You were tested and did not sin – You spoke the Word of God to the enemy and he fled. Let me soak in Your Word so I am prepared to rebuke the enemy when those times of testing come. Amen.
