Hebrews 2:1-4 ~ S.O.A.P. vs1

ScriptureWe must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”

Observation: The author of Hebrews is warning believers to pay attention to God’s Words – to not let the things of the world distract them and draw them away from God’s Word.

Application: It is so easy to get caught up in the opinions and beliefs of those around us – especially as new believers. Forsaking the gathering of believers, not digging into God’s Word, not praying – these are also ways that we are drawn away. We need to pay attention to what God has told us in His Word – each word is there for a reason – the enemy is waiting for us to turn away so we can be drawn away. We also have a responsibility to share the gospel – we have God’s Word in print.

Prayer: Father, help me to remain steadfast in my time with You, listening to You, sitting still before You, so I won’t be drawn away. Let me not take for granted Your written Word. May I treasure each Bible I own and share the gospel – the Good News – with those around me. Amen.
