REmember…the deeds of the Lord…

psalm-77_11-13“I will REmember the deeds of the Lord”…

Do I really?

When I am struggling…down and out…going through a hard time…

Do I take the time to sit…and REmember the deeds of the Lord?

Not all that He has done for me…

But all that He has done…

Period.

Psalm 77 was written by Asaph, and portrays a melancholy, or troubled, spirit. Throughout his time of grief, he poured his heart out to the Lord, crying out for relief…

He was confused…he couldn’t sleep…he complained…he could not be comforted…

He moaned…and he groaned…he grew fearful…distrustful of God…and despondent…

Wow…I can so relate…can you?

Until…

He began…to REmember…

The deeds of the Lord…

You see, sometimes it’s when we look back that we really begin to look forward…

We can look to the past, yes…But we don’t have to dwell there anymore…Look back and thank GOD

The psalmist began to relive the negative parts of his past…and had to “argue down” those unbeliefs…

He had to purposefully REmember God’s faithfulness…I Will…

And sometimes we do too…I do too…

Instead of throwing a pity party and looking at all the bad that has happened in my life…

I Will REmember the deeds of the Lord…

And oh, when I start to REmember the things He has done…

I am shamed…I am humbled…at my outcry…

Nothing is owed to me…

Yet so much has been given to me…

Certainly that should change my outlook…my prayers…the way I live…

So on this first full day of studying my first “RE” word in God’s Word…

I challenge myself…

I challenge you…

To purposefully REmember the deeds the Lord has done…

I believe you will be amazed at what you will discover…
